Denali & Kenai Fjords National Parks, Alaska 2009

We returned to one of my favorite parks early in September. Inspite of losing many images due to computer glitch (you can never have too many back ups), the trip was very successful. The mountain was out almost all the time of our visit and we had some great wildlife opportunities. We started with two days on the Kenai Pennisula and around Anchorage. We had a rainy boat trip in Seward which made photography difficult.

We then headed up toward Denali and our first view of the mountain happened on our way up the highway.

We spent the night just outside the park entrance and explored the paved area of the road open to public traffic. The moose rut was happening and we saw many moose including two bulls competing for females.

We we were also there for a full moon.

We then met the Camp Denali bus and started the journey to deep into the park and our home at camp. During our visit we had many spectacular views of the mountain, Denali.

We also saw many of the best known wildlife species.

And one rare one - the Northern Hawk Owl.

A trip to the park and to Camp Denali is always fantaastic, and this year was no exception.

Lake Clark National Park, AK

We visited Lake Clark National Park in Alaska, staying at Redoubt Mountain Lodge located on Crescent Lake. The lodge was beautiful and the service phenomenal. The fishing was fantastic, everyone caught their limit every day they fished.

The salmon were running and the eagles were there.

But we went for the bears and they were everywhere.

My favorites were the mothers with cubs.

It was a fantastic trip and the photo opportunites were everywhere.
